Description
Traceability of measuring equipment used in processes is an important
quality element for ensuring that all measured values correspond to
the actual physical units. For measured units falling within the scope
of the German Eichgesetz (standardization and calibration act), this is
administered by the Eichamt (office of weights and measures). For
scientific and technical units, such as force and torque, this is handled
by the Deutscher Kalibrier Dienst (DKD) (‘German National Calibration
Agency’).
This internationally recognized calibration certificate is becoming
increasingly important, since it provides the only means to
demonstrate traceability to national or international standards.
The reference standard instrument (BNME 1 kN·m) generates a
defined torque using lever arms (2 × 1019.239 mm ±0.005 mm)
suspended from a zero-friction aerostatic bearing and masses
composed of 120 mass discs with class F1 (±0.0005%). In-house
calibrations are performed in our climate-controlled laboratories
(22°C ±0.3 °C, 45% ±5% relative humidity).
On-site calibrations are performed using suitable reference
standards.
